NCI began its operations in 1984 as a regional manufacturer of metal
building components. In 1987, the company expanded into the manufacture
and distribution market of metal building systems through a builder
network. The company was able to rapidly grow its metal building
sales and became a public company in 1992. In 1998, a strategic acquisition enabled NCI to nearly double in size with the purchase of MBCI, the industry’s largest manufacturer of building components, and its coating operations which supplies painted hot roll and cold roll steel to the industry. The company continued a solid growth expansion program
through acquisitions of both vertical and horizontal industry related
companies.
NCI has grown to be one of the largest integrated manufacturers
and marketers of metal building components, custom engineered metal
building systems, and coil coating processors and slitters in North
America. Through well-recognized and respected industry brand names,
such as MBCI,
Metallic
Building Company, and Doublecote,
NCI Building Systems offers one of the most extensive metal product
lines in the building industry. The company operates from 44 manufacturing
facilities strategically located across the country, in Canada and in Mexico.
The geographic and product diversification has enabled NCI to remain
strong. To ensure the stability and growth of the company, a continuing
product development and refinement program of equipment modifications
for more efficient operations is ongoing. In addition, the company
is always seeking opportunities for key acquisitions.
Is there a magic formula for success? NCI thinks the answer is PEOPLE.
NCI management realized years ago that anyone could own land, buildings,
and equipment. However, it takes talented and dedicated employees
to achieve true success.
Below is a timeline of NCI's History of Successful Acquisitions.
